Security Analyst – Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC
Location:
Oak Ridge, TN. Join a team that protects the nation’s critical assets and adheres to the United States Department of Energy (DOE) and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) directives.
Active DOE “Q” Clearance is required. The Security Analyst will help safeguard the organization’s assets, information, and personnel in accordance with DOE O 470.3C, Design Basis Threat (DBT), NRC 10 CFR Part 73, and related agency policies.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive security risk and vulnerability assessments of systems, facilities, and operations to identify potential weaknesses and threats in alignment with DOE and NRC standards.
- Translate and implement specific requirements from DOE O 470.3C, 10 CFR Part 73, and related NRC regulatory guidance into actionable security plans and procedures.
- Utilize the Design Basis Threat (DBT) and NRC adversary characteristics to evaluate potential adversary capabilities and intent, ensuring appropriate defensive measures are implemented.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk‑management controls and processes, coordinate external assessments, and maintain audit findings to satisfy DOE and NRC compliance obligations.
- Develop and maintain technical reports, programmatic plans, and analytical deliverables that document assessment results and mitigation strategies, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate closely with emergency planners, physical security specialists, and regulatory interface personnel to ensure a cohesive, defense‑in‑depth security posture consistent with DOE and NRC frameworks.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, security management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience performing security analysis, risk assessments, or vulnerability assessments within a government, nuclear, or regulated environment (DOE, NRC, or DoD).
- Strong understanding of DOE O 470.3C, Design Basis Threat, and DOE safeguards and security programs.
- Working knowledge of NRC physical protection and material control requirements (e.g., 10 CFR Part 73, 10 CFR Part 74).
- Familiarity with risk‑based security methodologies, modeling tools, and system analysis software used in security evaluations.
- Active DOE Q clearance required (or equivalent NRC/Q access authorization).
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and convey complex security policies, orders, and regulatory requirements clearly.
- United States Citizenship is required.
