Piping Engineer, Level IV with Security Clearance

Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS) is actively seeking a Piping Engineer, Level IV with Security Clearance to support the Department of Energy at the Y‑12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. AIS employees will receive direction and assignments from Y‑12 staff. Pay, benefits, HR, and employment functions are provided by AIS.

Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and able to meet pre‑employment requirements including physicals, drug screen, and a background investigation to satisfy DOE clearance requirements.

• Provide CNS, Mission Engineering with full‑time piping design engineering support for facility and production area activities in Category 2 and Category 3 facilities.
• Produce design output documentation for minor facility modifications, including drawings, engineering instructions, data sheets, equipment specifications, equivalency evaluations, and calculations.
• Develop designs in accordance with ASME B31.3 and ASME B31.1.
• Work with other engineering disciplines and plant organizations to produce timely design output.
• Understand Conduct of Engineering, Conduct of Operations, and Conduct of Maintenance for facilities operating within a nuclear regulated environment.
• Communicate effectively with various clients, production and support organizations, management, and hourly wage employees.
• Perform field walk‑downs and work in a production environment.

• ABET‑accredited BS in a relevant engineering discipline with 15+ years of professional experience, or MS in a relevant engineering discipline with 14+ years of professional experience.
• Q clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Experience in an NRC or DOE regulated environment is desirable.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Certified ability to pass a drug screen and comply with workplace substance abuse testing, if required.
• Medical examinations may be required.
