As a Field Engineer
, you are the construction site engineering resource and expertise throughout the construction of a project. You will interpret designs, adjust designs to meet site conditions, manage technical issues, perform quality inspections, monitor technical submittals, and ensure configuration management. With your engineering discipline focus, you will support construction supervision and final technical approval of completed construction tasks to ensure construction conforms to design specifications.
You will make independent decisions regarding methods, work with Construction Managers, and apply financial commitment authority for field changes. You will complete assigned tasks under minimal supervision and technical direction.

LocationKiewit Nuclear Solutions is headquartered in Lenexa, KS, and manages projects across the U.S. Candidates must be willing to travel and relocate as necessary. Field engineers may rotate between field and office work.
Responsibilities- Provide technical support in all phases of estimating, construction formation, project execution, testing/inspection, and project closeout.
- Maintain records of installed quantities and completed construction work.
- Participate in obtaining any required permits/clearances, lockouts, Escort Agreements, and work authorizations prior to commencing work on site.
- Perform verification of work in progress to ensure safety, security, quality, environmental control, workmanship, and schedule requirements are met.
- Assist in the preparation of procedures, administrative and technical documents.
- May prepare/approve purchase requisitions for materials and services.
- Review Lessons Learned and collaborate with corporate personnel and other corporate partner projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Proficiency in reading and understanding engineering design documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for management, customers, peers, and craft personnel.
- Experience conducting field verifications of construction work to enforce compliance with drawings, specifications, national codes, and standards.
- Strong collaborative problem‑solving skills to resolve nuclear facility and infrastructure engineering issues as liaison between design engineers and constructors.
- Knowledge of basic construction engineering principles and construction safety.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Strong work ethic, highly motivated, and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
- Eligibility requires sole U.S. citizenship; proof of citizenship is required to obtain badge access to the site.
- Must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements.
