Shape the Supply Chain Behind Next-Generation Nuclear Fuel
The Opportunity

NANO Nuclear Energy is seeking an experienced Nuclear Fuel Supplier Engineer to play a critical role in advancing fuel development and qualification for its KRONOS high-temperature gas-cooled reactor.

Reporting to the Reactor Fuel Design Manager, you’ll serve as the primary technical interface with fuel manufacturers, nuclear material suppliers, and fabrication partners. You’ll help translate advanced fuel designs into reliable, scalable manufacturing processes while ensuring supplier quality, technical compliance, and qualification readiness.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Direct ownership of critical nuclear fuel supplier relationships and technical deliverables.
  • Exposure to advanced TRISO fuel technology and next-generation reactor development.
  • Influence supplier qualification, manufacturing readiness, and fuel industrialization.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and program leadership.
  • Hybrid flexibility, relocation assistance, and professional growth opportunities.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead technical relationships with fuel, materials, fabrication, and fuel-cycle suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and support sourcing, negotiations, and technical contracting.
  • Translate engineering, manufacturing, and qualification requirements into supplier specifications and statements of work.
  • Coordinate supplier audits, quality assessments, corrective actions, and requalification.
  • Support scalable fabrication processes and assess production-readiness risks.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain ASME NQA-1 and applicable 10 CFR Part 50 Appendix B compliance.
  • Maintain material traceability, supplier records, and qualification evidence.
  • Evaluate supplier deviations, process changes, and nonconformances.
  • Identify supply chain risks and recommend mitigation strategies to leadership.
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nuclear, materials, chemical, mechanical, ceramic, or related engineering. Non-engineering degrees considered with substantial relevant technical experience.
  • Experience in supplier quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or technical procurement within a highly regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership to external suppliers.
  • Ability to evaluate manufacturing data, process capability, material properties, statistical trends, and technical evidence.
  • Experience maintaining qualification traceability and configuration-controlled manufacturing records.
  • Strong technical communication, documentation, negotiation, and supplier relationship skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced technical degree.
  • Experience with HALEU, TRISO, coated-particle fuels, advanced ceramics, or ceramic matrix composites.
  • Nuclear fuel irradiation, PIE, safety testing, modeling, or licensing documentation experience.
  • Fuel qualification or advanced-material manufacturing scale-up experience.
  • NQA-1 auditing, supplier-quality certification, or commercial-grade dedication experience.
  • Knowledge of nuclear-material safeguards, export controls, transportation, and international procurement.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Hybrid work arrangement in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
  • Relocation package available.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • 401(k) with up to 5% company match.
  • Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and paid parental leave.
  • Mentorship, technical leadership, and professional development opportunities.
