Bachelor’s degree in a mental health/social science discipline and one year experience in early intervention/substance abuse counseling preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Demonstrate competency in working with children and adolescents (ages 12‑18 years), familiarity with and/or experience in school setting helpful; individual and group therapy skills required.
JOB DUTIESThe TN Prevention Network (TPN) Prevention Specialist is responsible for the implementation and ongoing operation of the Amazing Discoveries school‑based verkrijgbaar, as they are defined and funded by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. This program provides the evidence‑based Too Good for Drugs curriculum in middle and high schools in Anderson, Campbell, Morgan, Roane and Scott Counties.
This position reports to the Director of C&Y Services for programmatic and clinical supervision and consists of: presentation of classroom programming based on Too Good for Drugs curriculum guidelines, adventure‑based counseling, and networking and referral to community resources. Position will be required to maintain a positive working relationship with school systems and other community service agencies.
