Research Scientist, Data Scientist, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Biomedical Science
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to develop and demonstrate quantum algorithms for quantum simulations of condensed matter physics. The goal of this research is to enable new capabilities in the large scale simulation and quantification of materials properties using quantum computers. Specific research focuses may include scaling quantum simulations using partially fault-tolerant methods, simulations of topological materials, and developing approaches to measure thermodynamic material properties using quantum computers.
The position will involve collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of researchers in quantum computing and condensed matter physics theory and experiment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantum computing, computational physics, quantum thermodynamics, and/or a solid understanding of condensed matter quantum many-body theory. They will Interpret, report, and present research concepts and results in conferences and peer-reviewed publications.
This position resides within the Quantum Computational Science Group in the Computational Sciences and Engineering Division (CSED) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). CSED performs transdisciplinary computational science and analytics at scale to produce advancements in physical sciences, engineering, and biomedicine and health. The Quantum Computational Science group addresses this mission through the development of quantum computational methods and software for diverse scientific applications.
