Sr Engineer - Trans Asset Planning & Strat – Technical Studies

Develops and/or leads teams in Transmission Planning studies, criteria, integrated systems analysis, and support the reliable operation of Exelon's electric transmission facilities/systems.

A Senior engineer in Transmission Asset Planning’s Technical Studies team is responsible for performing complex transmission system analysis including but not limited to Voltage Dynamic, Stability & Transient analysis in addition to EMT and Short Circuit Studies.

The Technical Studies team works closely with Regional Transmission Planning, Transmission & Substation and Protection and Control teams providing technical guidance to identify and mitigate violations against the standard(s) and criteria and propose reinforcements to enhance reliability of the Bulk power system.

A successful candidate shall demonstrate related experience and technical knowledge in transmission planning and bulk system studies, planning processes and knowledge over FERC and NERC standards and processes as well as direct experience with at least one of the following ISOs ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, and/or IESO. Strong background and experience in performing system impact studies and transmission planning using PSS/E, TARA, and PSCAD is a must.

Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Note:

This is a hybrid position (in-office with remote flexibility). Employees are required to be in office at least three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). This position must sit out of our Lincoln Center Office, Oakbrook, IL. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.

• Perform transmission planning, dynamics, stability and transient studies using commercial tools (PSSE, TARA, PSCAD, etc.)
• Evaluate transmission system dynamics under high penetrations of renewables
• Provide technical guidance to internal departments (Engineering, Operations, Substation and T-line asset strategy, Distribution Planning etc.) on planning and policy issues
• Perform complex studies such as RAS design related studies
• Work closely with the product and engineering teams to develop software solutions that enhance power system analysis at scale
• Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or…
