Underground Estimator

Overview

A leading and well-established underground utility contractor in Central and Northern California is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their growing team. Known for quality work, strong partnerships, and a safety-first approach, this company is involved in a wide range of public and private civil infrastructure projects.

The Estimator will play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for underground utility construction projects. This full-time position requires a detail-oriented and technically skilled professional who can collaborate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors.

• Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents

• Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors

• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as necessary

• Solicit, analyze, and negotiate quotes from vendors and subcontractors

• Prepare and submit complete bid proposals in a timely manner

• Work closely with project managers to ensure a smooth project transition

• Track bid outcomes and contribute to the refinement of estimating processes

• 5+ years of estimating experience in underground utility or civil construction

• Familiarity with public works projects preferred

• Proficient in interpreting construction plans and specifications

• Strong skills in Excel and estimating software (HCSS Heavy Bid a plus)

• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills

• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-driven
