MOD Dentist

This permanent part‑time position offers 21 hours per week:
Wednesday 8 h, Thursday 8 h, Friday 5 h. The salary is pro‑rate to the hours worked.

Main duties

As a MOD Dentist you will maximize the deployability of the Population at Risk by delivering high‑quality dental care and maintaining operational fitness of service personnel.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing occupational oral health assessments
  • Ensuring dental fitness to NATO standards and contributing to the Joint Medical Employment Standard for service personnel
  • Maintaining confidentiality in line with the General Dental Council (GDC) and the 8 Caldicott principles
  • Managing surgery, record keeping, consumables, and equipment to a high standard
Qualifications & Experience
  • Full registration with the GDC without conditions (provide registration number)
  • Proven clinical currency: minimum 2 operative primary dental sessions per week over the last 15 months
  • Completion of Foundation Dentist Training or equivalent independent practice experience in the UK or abroad
  • Membership in the relevant professional body (e.g., Royal Dental Hospital of London)

Selection Process
  • Sift: within 10 working days of the closing date, based on CV application
  • Interview: date to be confirmed; assessment against NHS core (communication, people development, health & safety, service improvement, quality, equality & diversity)
  • No reimbursement for interview travel expenses
Additional Requirements

Applicants must meet security requirements and provide evidence of immunity to Hepatitis B (serology levels). Work experience may include line‑management responsibilities.
