Position: Pre - School Assistant (LEI082BC)

Pre‑School Assistant

Leighfield Primary School

Salary: Grade 5 Pay Point 7‑8 (£25,191 – £25,590 per annum, approximate starting salary of £15,508)

Hours: 32 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 07:30 am – 18:00 pm

About the Role

Leighfield Primary School is seeking an organised, empathetic and enthusiastic Pre‑School Assistant to support the Little Roots Pre‑School team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the well‑being, safety and security of the children, including locking doors, windows and gates in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain records as directed.
  • Assist in planning and implementing a multi‑cultural play curriculum to stimulate children’s interest in learning.
  • Liaise with parents/carers and other staff to ensure children are welcomed and supported.
Qualifications
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy.
  • NVQ 3 qualification or equivalent.
Experience
  • Experience of working with children under five in informal or formal settings.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of good practice in under‑fives care and education.
  • Knowledge of requirements of the Children Act.
  • Knowledge of Ofsted requirements.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety.
  • Knowledge of good security practices.
