Career Teachers are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school supporting children and young people aged 3 to 19 years with a wide range of additional learning needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people. The role will initially be through Career Teachers Agency
, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a variety of special educational needs, disabilities, and complex learning difficulties. You will play a vital role in supporting both their academic progress and personal development, helping them to achieve their full potential within a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting students on a one-to-one and small group basis.
- Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning programmes.
- Promoting independence, confidence, and social development.
- Creating a calm, safe, and positive learning environment.
- Building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Supporting students with emotional regulation and behavioural needs.
- Assisting with personal care where required.
- Following safeguarding and behaviour management policies at all times.
We are looking for individuals who have:
- Previous experience working with children and young people, ideally within an educational, care, youth work, or SEN setting.
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Confidence in managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
