To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general supportto the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients,the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies suchas secondary care and community service providers.

Main duties of the job
  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
  • Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls ordealing with the callers request appropriately
  • Signpost patients to the correct service
  • Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
  • Read code data on Systmone
  • Photocopy documentation as required
  • Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
  • Input data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
  • Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance /solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
  • Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
  • Carry out system searches as requested
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at alltimes
  • Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
  • Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
About us

Empingham Medical Centre is situated in the village of Empingham, on the edge of Rutland Water in the heart of the picturesque County of Rutland. We provide GP and Nurse appointments and we are a Dispensing Practice.

The Practice area covers over 120 square miles in the villages around Rutland Water. We are members of the East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group (ELRCCG) and mainly refer for secondary care to Peterborough City Hospital and its clinics at Stamford. A smaller number of referrals are made to University Hospitals Leicester as well as the local community based facilities.

We are a very popular Practice, rated very highly in local and national patient satisfaction surveys. We were rated GOOD in all areas at our first CQC inspection which took place in September 2015.

The Practice is part of the Jubilee Academy and is actively involved in teaching 3rd & 5th Year Medical Students from Leicester Medical School. We are also involved in a range of Research Studies through the East Midlands Clinical Research Network.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • * Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • * Experience of working with the general public
  • * Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • * Clear, polite telephone manner
  • * Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
  • * GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)
  • * Experience of administrative duties
  • * Experience of working in a health care setting
  • * Experience of working with Systmone.
