Summary
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist serves to influence healthcare professionals by focusing on improving knowledge, skills, abilities, judgment, and performance behaviors of all. The NPD Specialist uses advanced skills in curriculum design, evidence-based practice and leadership to improve role competence, promote growth of learners, achieve improved health outcomes for our population, and promote workforce well-being. Additionally, this position plays a crucial role in upholding regulatory standards and supporting a variety of accreditation measures through encouraging collaboration, active engagement and accountability surrounding quality and safety.
- Graduate degree in nursing required, or BSN and a graduate degree in a related field (i.e. education)
- 7 Years clinical experience in nursing in hospital setting to include 3 Years of department/unit/specialty specific experience.
- Previous educational experience in designing, facilitating and validating education preferred.

Minimum Education- Graduate degree in nursing required, or BSN and a graduate degree in a related field (i.e. education)
- 7 Years clinical experience in nursing in hospital setting to include 3 Years of department/unit/specialty specific experience.
- Previous educational experience in designing, facilitating and validating education preferred.
- Current Vermont RN Licensure in Vermont.
- Completion of endorsed patient/visitor de-escalation and restraint program certification based on department specific guidelines.
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association.
- Specialty certification in Nursing Professional Development*
- 1 unit-specific certification**
- or obtained within one year of hire.
- or obtained within two years of hire.
- Strong knowledge and skills related to clinical nursing practice.
- Knowledge of adult education principles
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to education as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and services.
- Effective and timely communication skills
Pay Range = $47.08 - $68.58
