Senior Manufacturing Staff Accountant – Timber Quest
Reports to: VP of Finance
Classification: Full-Time | Exempt
Location: Remote (West Region: CA, OR, WA, NV, AZ) — Quarterly travel to Milpitas, CA
Note: Manufacturing cost accounting experience is required for this role.

, you will be a key contributor in managing cost accounting and financial operations within a dynamic, hands‑on manufacturing environment. This role supports daily accounting activities while delivering financial insights that inform operational and strategic decisions.
We’re looking for an analytical, detail‑oriented professional with deep experience in cost accounting, inventory management, and manufacturing workflows—ideally within a construction‑adjacent or small‑batch production setting.
Key Responsibilities- Lead cost accounting and inventory management for modular manufacturing operations, ensuring accurate labor, material, and overhead allocation.
- Partner with factory leadership and project teams to evaluate job cost performance and recommend process improvements.
- Perform month‑end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Oversee day‑to‑day accounting functions: accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare and review sales and use tax filings; ensure compliance with multi‑state tax regulations.
- Maintain accurate financial reporting and internal controls; support quarterly and annual audits.
- Prepare and analyze margin, cash flow, and cost trend reports to support leadership decision‑making.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and support special projects.
- Support project‑based accounting and administrative activities as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in manufacturing or cost accounting (small‑batch, non‑automated environments preferred).
- Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Viewpoint Vista, Power BI, or Prophix is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a distributed environment.
- CPA or CMA preferred, but not required.
- Salary range: $94,000 – $110,000 (commensurate with experience and geographic location)
