Accounting Supervisor – Multi-Unit Retail

Position Overview

We are a multi‑unit retail organization seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee core accounting functions with a focus on cash operations, payroll accounting, and management reporting. This is a hands‑on leadership role for a self‑starter who is comfortable working in a fast‑paced, cash‑intensive retail environment and collaborating closely with operations and one other part‑time accounting clerk subordinate.

• Oversee cash receipts, cash controls, and daily cash management across multiple retail locations
• Lead cash planning and forecasting, including short- and medium‑term cash flow projections
• Perform and review bank reconciliations, accounts payable reconciliations and other financial system controls
• Manage payroll processing and payroll accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Supervise accounting staff and ensure timely, accurate completion of assigned duties
• Prepare and review management reporting, including store‑level performance, cash flow, and variance analysis
• Support month‑end close activities related to cash, payroll, and retail operations
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
• Partner with operations and leadership to support business planning and decision‑making

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory accounting role with payroll processing responsibilities
• Prior experience in retail, multi‑unit, or cash‑intensive environments strongly preferred
• Strong working knowledge of cash management, payroll accounting, and financial reporting
• Proficiency required in Excel, Google Sheets, and Quick Books Enterprise, Gusto Payroll
• Candidates will be tested to assess skill level
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent communication skills to communicate with vendors, management, employees and tax officials
• Self‑starter with the ability to work independently and proactively
• Reliable transportation required to commute to Uptown Oakland

• On‑site in Uptown Oakland, 4 days per week

• Compensation: $85,000 – $100,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
• Two (2) weeks of paid vacation annually
