Area Safety Coordinator - Heavy Civil

Established Heavy Civil Construction firm seeks Area Safety Coordinator. This position is based out either the Concord/ Walnut Creek area or Modesto region traveling to multiple project sites daily in those areas.

Base pay range: $95,000 - $125,000 per year.

• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including OSHA and DOT.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions and seminars for employees and subcontractors.
• Lead emergency response efforts and conduct accident investigations, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions.
• Conduct risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and implementing preventative measures.
• Work closely with project teams to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution.
• Maintain thorough records of all safety‑related documents, reports, and inspections.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in safety management in the heavy civil construction industry.
• Certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) including CSP, CHST, STS‑C, or ASP.
• Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA 30, safety management, risk assessment, construction safety, emergency response, and workplace safety.
• Demonstrated ability to implement policy and procedures in a large, diverse organization.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
• Must be willing to travel to various project sites.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
