Natural & Cultural History of SF East Bay
Join Wholly H2O as a Researcher & Writer to help develop an engaging set of virtual and in‑person creek tours in the San Francisco East Bay. The role involves deep research into the natural and cultural history of local streams, including flora, fauna, geology, city planning, race relations, and BIPOC narratives. It requires living in the Bay Area.
Work includes:
- Researching creek history, community groups, scientific studies, restoration activities, social and environmental justice issues, and mapping day lighted vs. buried segments.
- Writing textual content and sourcing existing images for a website and printable creek guide.
- Walking or biking the creeks to capture photographs that will create online maps with points of interest for those unable to visit in person.
- Supporting live‑streamed creek walks with naturalist events across various watersheds.
- Capable researcher with initiative and good time‑management.
- Strong written communication skills and organized.
- Excellent team communicator who enjoys the work.
- Live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Knowledge of creek ecology is a plus.
