Student Veteran or Veteran dependent student must be using VA Education benefits for the semester they are applying to work including:

Chapters 30, 31, 32, 33, 35 or 1606

Can work up to 8 hours per day for a maximum of 25 hours per week

Hourly wage of State or Federal minimum wage – whichever is higher‑rate for winter 2026 is $15/hr – $12.48 will be paid by the VA and $2.52 will be paid by Oakland University. This position requires student to complete VA work study hiring paperwork and OU hiring paperwork.

Time sheets are submitted via VSS Work-study supervisor at 50‑hour increments or every 2 weeks.

This position will require the Work-study student to work in the VSS office located in 112 Vandenberg Hall and perform various tasks that include:

• Assisting student Veterans with education benefits
• Assist with the textbook loan program
• Provide exemplary customer service while answering phones and assisting Veterans, guests, and OU community members in the VSS office
• Assist on a committee for Veteran Week celebrations
• Additional tasks as required in our Veteran support center

• Student must be in good academic standing
• Exhibit excellent written and communication skills
• Organized and dependable
• Knowledgeable of Google platform including documents, spreadsheets and forms
• Able to represent OU through email, phone, virtual and in‑person discussions and interviews

Student Veteran using VA Educational Benefits with certified attendance at ¾ time or more

Have 2 or more semesters remaining at OU
