Overview
Lighthouse Community Public Schools is seeking a talented Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Lead Teacher to join our dynamic team committed to ensuring traditionally underserved students of color achieve our mission of completing college, securing a career of their choice, and becoming lifelong changemakers in their communities.
Responsibilities- Teach all subjects in a self‑contained TK classroom, planning, implementing, and assessing standards‑based instruction that is learner‑driven and maintains rigor.
- Lead an advisory (Crew) daily and engage in guided study hall or designated ELD course as required.
- Demonstrate culturally responsive pedagogy, using data to inform instruction and drive student learning for all subgroups, including students with IEPs, English language learners, African‑American, and Latinx students.
- Plan, internalize, and implement adopted, effective, grade‑level curriculum units and lessons that are learner‑driven and maintain rigor.
- Differentiate curriculum while maintaining rigor to provide grade‑level access and results for all student subgroups.
- Utilize, collect, and analyze rigorous, student‑engaged assessments, formative and summative, to identify and address growth areas.
- Build and maintain a classroom culture that is supportive and learning‑centered, under girded by strong management and efficient systems.
- B.A. or B.S., required.
- Appropriate California Teaching Credential, required or commitment to acquire one, and valid Certificate of Clearance, required.
- Knowledge of California Common Core State Standards and student‑centered, mastery‑based learning, preferred.
- 2+ years teaching urban youth with transformational results, preferred.
- Experience teaching in a progressive school model; preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
Competitive salary range $61,500–$105,000 plus generous health and retirement benefits (100% employee health coverage/50% for dependents; 8% employer‑matching for retirement program; medical and dependent FSA; optional 403b retirement plan; life insurance; optional insurance benefits).
