We provide programs tailored to the needs of today’s youth, supplementing the efforts of families, schools, and community organizations. Each year, BGCO serves nearly 2,000 youth across Oakland, offering outcome‑driven programs that focus on three core objectives:
Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.
The Youth Dance Program Director will design, manage, and deliver a high‑quality dance program that fosters creativity, discipline, and confidence in our youth members. This role combines teaching, program administration, and community partnership building. The Director will work closely with the Branch Director as a creative and administrative leader, ensuring both the short‑ and long‑term success of the program.
Primary Responsibilities- Develop and implement the strategic vision of the dance program.
- Plan and manage class schedules, calendars, and performances throughout the year.
- Teach dance and composition classes across age groups and skill levels.
- Choreograph and rehearse works for student performances.
- Supervise students during rehearsals, performances, and outreach events.
- Maintain accurate attendance, registration, and program records.
- Ensure program policies are current and consistently applied.
- Attend staff meetings; report on program needs, student conduct, facilities, and artistic direction.
- Cultivate partnerships with schools, dance studios, choreographers, master teachers, and local dance companies.
- Support the Branch Director in building and sustaining community relationships.
- Assist with club‑wide special events (e.g., Keystone, Youth of the Year, Awards Programs).
- Communicate with parents regarding member progress or concerns as needed.
- Proven group leadership abilities and understanding of group dynamics.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (required).
Base pay $20.00/hr – $23.00/hr part‑time. After‑school hours: 4‑8pm; summer and school break hours: 11‑3 or 12‑4. Benefits:
