We are seeking a motivated and engaging Robotics Instructor to lead hands-on afterschool enrichment classes in Oakland. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy technology, engineering, and inspiring young learners through interactive STEM experiences.
Students will explore robotics through building, programming, testing, and problem-solving activities. Instructors will guide students as they learn how robots move, respond to commands, and complete challenges while developing creativity, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead robotics lessons and activities in an afterschool setting
- Demonstrate basic engineering and programming concepts in an age-appropriate manner
- Support students as they build, test, and improve robotic creations
- Facilitate team challenges and collaborative projects
- Encourage experimentation, perseverance, and innovative thinking
- Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
- Manage classroom routines and ensure student safety
- $55–$65 per session, based on experience and assignment
Position Requirements
Qualifications
- Background in education, STEM, engineering, or youth programs
- Experience with LEGO robotics, maker kits, or early STEM education
- Familiarity with hands-on or play-based learning environments
- Experience working with young children (K–8 preferred)
- Ability to lead structured but playful learning activities
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Dependable, patient, and enthusiastic approach to teaching
