Job DescriptionCoffman Engineers is seeking a talented and self‑motivated Acoustical Engineer/Consultant with 6‑10 years of experience to join our Bay Area team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive acoustical consulting services—from initial feasibility studies through design, permitting, and construction support. We’re looking for someone enthusiastic about collaboration, eager to grow within a multidisciplinary environment, and ready to bring energy and creativity to every project.
Responsibilities- Complete design work and prepare reports for complex or atypical projects.
- Lead successful project pursuits and prepare proposals with minimal oversight.
- Develop project schedules and budgets for single‑discipline and small multi‑discipline projects.
- Coach engineers and designers to support their professional growth in alignment with Coffman’s values and culture.
- Oversee the production of drawings and reports, ensuring quality control and productivity across engineers and drafting/design staff.

The position will involve a mix of technical design and consulting, construction support, and new project scoping and proposal writing. The position is hybrid where the staff are in‑person three days a week (minimum) and have the option to work remotely two days a week. The optional remote workdays of the week are currently Monday and Friday. These guidelines are reassessed periodically.
Compensation and Benefits- Approximate Base Salary – $98,000 to $125,000
- Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
- Competitive end‑of‑year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance
- Hybrid Work Schedule (subject to change)
- 401k with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to acoustics (e.g., Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture).
- 6‑10 years of experience in acoustical consulting within the construction industry.
- Proficiency with Sound
PLAN (preferred). - Ability to perform and oversee acoustical measurements using appropriate testing equipment.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment (preferred).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Motivation to learn and adopt the latest technologies and practices.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
