Position Summary

HPX is seeking a hands-on Field Application Engineer to support the testing, qualification, and customer integration of high-speed optical transceivers for AI infrastructure and hyperscale data centers.

The candidate will manage the test lab, troubleshoot optical transceivers and firmware, and serve as the primary technical interface with customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Optical Testing:
  Perform testing, characterization, and troubleshooting of 400G, 800G, and 1.6T optical transceivers using BERTs, oscilloscopes, and optical test equipment.
• Firmware & Diagnostics:
  Troubleshoot module firmware, CMIS, diagnostics, and host-system compatibility issues.
• Networking Applications:
  Understand Ethernet, Infini Band, AI cluster networking, switches, NICs, and high-speed optical links.
• Lab Management:
  Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, test procedures, documentation, and test automation.
• Customer Support:
  Work directly with customer engineering teams on product evaluation, interoperability, qualification, and technical problem resolution.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  
  Coordinate with HPX's engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve issues and improve products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in optical transceivers, high-speed networking, hardware validation, or application engineering.
• Hands-on experience with optical testing, BER, PAM4, firmware diagnostics, and high-speed interfaces.
• Understanding of Ethernet and data center networking;
  Infini Band experience is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to independently manage a laboratory and work across engineering teams.

Preferred:
Experience with AI data centers, 800G/1.6T transceivers, Python test automation, and Mandarin Chinese.
