Scion Nonprofit has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced Interim Controller for an outstanding nonprofit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is an exceptional opportunity to partner with a mission-driven organization and provide hands‑on financial leadership during a critical period.

This is a hybrid, interim engagement, with potential to extend.

• Lead the organization through the year‑end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare the finance team for the annual audit, serving as the primary liaison with the external audit firm
• Report directly to the President
• Review and approve journal entries and key accounting activities
• Establish, document, and communicate year‑end close policies and procedures
• Prepare and review financial statements
• Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support leadership decision‑making

• 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting leadership roles
• 2+ years of nonprofit financial leadership experience strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
• CPA strongly preferred

• Financial accounting and reporting
• Budget development and management
• Grant and project accounting
• Internal controls and audit preparation
• Experience managing and reporting on government contracts and grants preferred
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and leadership skills
• Proficiency with Sage Intacct is a plus
