Overview
Summary: Under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Director, performs Diagnostic Ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail and within established departmental policies and procedures. Must be fully proficient in all the duties required of this position. Performs related duties as required.
Responsibilities- Assists in orienting new staff and training Sonography students.
- Explains process to patient, and instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.
- Keys test data and patient information into the computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
- Moves transducer by hand over specified area of body and observes sound wave display screen to monitor quality of ultrasonic pattern produced.
- Operates equipment that produces images of internal organs and records diagnostic data on storage media.
- Responsible for organizing and maintaining a clean work area, equipment and inventory.
- Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination.
- Selects transducer and adjusts equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications of test.
Education: Sufficient to meet requirements for registry by ARDMS or ARRT in ultrasound.
Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association.
- Current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification, or registry in Ultrasound by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) preferred.
- If not registered, must be registry eligible in at least one anatomical specialty. If registry eligible, expected to successfully achieve registry within 12 months.
Compensation: PAY RANGE: $73.51 - $76.03 /HR
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licenses and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda Health System also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensive benefits program.

Must be able to work independently. Must be able to work on-call. Must be willing to travel to Alameda Health System clinics.
