Mental Health Therapist - Transitions TAY Program

Fred Finch Youth & Family Services invites applicants for a full‑time Mental Health Therapist position within our Transitions TAY Program. The program is strengths‑based, culturally relevant, and co‑occurring friendly, engaging youth in a recovery process toward healthier expressions of their lives.

What You Will Do

Under administrative and clinical supervision, you will provide behavioral health clinical intervention and recovery services to assigned participants and families.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop treatment plans and perform individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Conduct routine and emergency assessment, crisis intervention, and related treatment services.
  • Manage an assigned caseload of children, youth, and/or young adult participants.
  • Provide consultation to staff, programs, and agencies related to treatment needs and plans.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule

Full Time, Exempt – Monday - Friday, hours TBD.

What You Bring to The Table (Requirements)

Education – Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or a related field.

Experience

  • Mental Health Therapist I – One year of internship experience in a behavioral health, clinic, residential, school‑based, or community‑based setting for children, youth, or young adults.
  • Mental Health Therapist II – Two years of post‑master’s experience in a similar setting for children, youth, or young adults.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record. Properly registered, insured vehicle maintained throughout employment.
  • Mental Health Therapist I – Valid registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). Candidates may obtain registered status within six months of hire.
  • Mental Health Therapist II – Valid licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) issued by the BBS, maintained throughout employment.
Qualifications

Knowledge of
:

  • The principles practices of psychotherapy, social work, and counseling.
  • Psychosocial assessments and individual/family/group behavioral treatment methods for the program’s target population.
  • Risk assessment, including self‑harm or harm to others, and effective community‑based interventions for high‑risk clients.
  • Cultural responsiveness when working with diverse families and communities.

Ability to
:

  • Communicate verbally, in writing, and active listening skills.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality.
  • Become certified to conduct a CANS/ANSA assessment within 90 days of employment if the program uses this tool.
  • Apply a strength‑based, culturally responsive, trauma‑informed approach to supervision and participant care.
  • Assess, triage, and organize work effectively.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite and competence with electronic clinical documentation systems.
