If youLOVEworking in a medical office setting that is a fast-paced and friendly environment where every day you make a difference in the lives of the patients by coordinating their specialty care services, thenAMI Healthcare Staffing, part of AMI Network,has an exciting opportunity for you as aReferral Specialistfor2+ months contract role.

The positionrequires excellent customer service skills and at least 1-2 years of Referral Coordination experience with a medical office, clinic, or hospital.Excellent administrative skills, keen attention to detail, and knowledge of medical terminology will make you successful in this role.

What your day looks like:

  • The schedule is Monday
    - Friday, 8:00-4:00 or 8:30-5:30,
  • Temporary 2-3 month contract with a high possibility of extension.
  • You will manage and coordinate all referrals from start to finish. This will include sending referrals to specialists, ensuring their receipt, informing patients of referrals, and following up to see if such appointments were kept and authorizations received.

What will make you successful

  • Proactively work with Medical Assistants to ensure follow-up on patients’ specialty appointments.
  • Take appropriate scheduling action for follow-up medical appointments.
  • Provide patient education on specialty appointments and address all patient questions to ensure their understanding.
  • Maintain a tracking system for referred appointments that include referred date, dates and times of referral appointments, missed appointments, and the recall procedure.
  • Develop and cultivate positive working relationships with specialist providers.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and be savvy in Excel and EMR-Epic or others.

What would be nice to have:

  • An AA degree is preferred.
  • OR Diploma or certification from an accredited medical care program(i.e., Medical Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant.)
  • Knowledge of managed care, ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT codes is preferred.
