We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering team. In this role you will help design, build, and maintain the data and BI infrastructure that powers analytics and decision‑making across Vumedi. You will lead key components of our Data Platform, improve data workflows, and collaborate closely with Engineering, Data Analytics, and business partners to ensure reliable, high‑quality data across the organization.
This is a hybrid role, working 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) in our Oakland office.
- Develop, improve, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL workflows.
- Design and implement data solutions that support reporting, analytics, and data science.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to understand data needs and ensure accuracy, consistency, and availability.
- Build and enhance data models and datamarts for analytics and BI use cases.
- Monitor and optimize database performance; diagnose and resolve data‑related issues.
- Contribute to the adoption of best practices in data engineering, including documentation, testing, and code quality.
- Stay current with new technologies and evaluate tools that could strengthen our data ecosystem.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a closely related role.
- Strong SQL skills (ideally Postgres) and experience with Python or similar languages.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS and its data ecosystem.
- Practical experience with ETL/orchestration tools such as Airflow.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, data integration, and ETL best practices.
- Experience with BI/reporting tools such as Tableau is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience in healthcare or education is beneficial but not required.
