Our 180-bed UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital has more than 150 specialists in more than 40 areas of medicine.

The Newborn ICU (NICU) at BCH Oakland is a 43-bed department. Both the ICN and the NICU have the expertise to treat the smallest, sickest and most fragile babies needing surgery for heart, lung, gastrointestinal and other life‑threatening conditions.
Our neonatal heart program is one of the largest in the country, treating almost 200 newborns with heart disease each year. Both units are Regional Intensive Care Nurseries and work with an extensive network of hospitals in Northern California to provide neonatology care.
