The Deep Medicine Circle (DMC) is a WOC‑led, collaborative nonprofit organization committed to healing the wounds of colonialism through food, medicine, restoration, story and learning. Urban Farm Manager (Full Time)

The Urban Farm Manager is a full‑time exempt management position responsible for managing the operations of the Rooftop Medicine Farm and an off‑site greenhouse. Duties include greenhouse, harvest, and field production management, data entry and record keeping, volunteer coordination, and support of DMC programming.

Responsibilities
  • Administration
    :
    Manage farm crew hours and scheduling, track work hours and paid time off, assist Office Manager with payroll, document and track work hours, tasks, inputs, harvests, distributions, and other records via online documentation software, maintain crop plans, seeding and transplant records, keep extensive records for organic certification compliance, ensure staff, volunteers and interns adhere to health and safety regulations, schedule rentals, repairs and maintenance of equipment, assist with hiring and training new staff, create seasonal crop plans and planting maps with the Farm Team, manage supplies and inventory, and maintain communication with building and respond to issues promptly.
  • Greenhouse
    :
    Manage the off‑site greenhouse, including seed starting, thinning, up‑potting and hardening seedlings, maintain binding of all organic certification records, order and maintain inventory for propagation and nursery operations, maintain regular fertility cycle records, and transport starts and supplies to the rooftop.
  • Harvest / Distribution
    :
    Oversee harvesting activities, create harvest lists, update sheets and whiteboards, delegate washing/packing, weigh and label produce, organize walk‑in fridge, divide harvest for distribution partners, coordinate delivery of produce to partners, and input harvest and distribution data into record‑keeping software.
  • Field Management
    :
    Conduct field production activities such as direct seeding, bed prep, planting and cultivation, communicate priorities and oversee all bed‑management tasks, coordinate and delegate daily tasks with farm crew, update spreadsheets per crop plan, manage pest identification and remediation, maintain soil health with amendments, brew compost teas, take soil tests, adjust irrigation, oversee compost piles and rotation, keep the farm organized and waste minimal.
  • Programming / Other
    :
    Volunteer coordination—recruit volunteers, email and communicate with volunteers and partners, schedule day‑of tasks; oversight of volunteer and educational programs (weekly volunteers, medical residents, Mutual Support Program, school visits); document work via photo, video and written forms; build professional networks; represent DMC values; present and articulate the purpose of DMC work; attend monthly Full Circle gatherings and storytelling.
Time Requirement

Full Time, 40 hours per week.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $70,304 for 12 months (salary varies by experience). Additional benefits include PTO, paid sick leave, healthcare benefits, 401(k), workers’ compensation, and unemployment insurance.

Start Date & Timeline

Start date:

February 1st, 2026. The Urban Farm Manager is committed to a one‑year term from the start date, with performance reviews at three and six months. The agreement may be extended at the mutual consent of all parties.
