Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Level 2 Data Center Contractor to support enterprise data center build and upgrade projects at our Oakland facility. This role is structured as an independent contractor engagement and is ideal for a self-directed professional with experience in mission‑critical environments. The contractor will exercise independent judgment in performing assigned tasks while coordinating deliverables with project stakeholders.

- Perform cabinet, rack, and hardware installations, including grounding and bonding, using contractor-owned tools
- Build and manage cable infrastructure: ironwork, cable trays, ladder racks, fiber ducts, and structured cabling
- Install, dress, lace, label, and route fiber, Ethernet, coax, alarm, and low-voltage cabling to enterprise standards
- Add, remove, and modify non-powered and passive equipment as specified in the scope of work
- Perform cable continuity testing and support basic DC power tasks
- Maintain clean, secure, and compliant work areas in live data center environments
- Coordinate progress, timelines, and deliverables with project managers and customer representatives
- Demonstrated experience performing data center installation work as an independent contractor
- Strong mechanical and basic electrical aptitude
- Working knowledge of structured cabling systems, racks, and grounding practices
- Proficiency in cable dressing, lacing, labeling, and testing
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and high attention to detail
- Experience in enterprise, colocation, or regulated data center environments
- Familiarity with ANSI/TIA standards, NEC requirements, and data center best practices
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform bending, kneeling, standing, and climbing tasks
- Comfortable working on ladders and elevated pathways
- Flexibility to perform work during nights or weekends as required by project scope
