This position is an Oakland University Campus Maintenance and Trades – MEA / NEA position. The incumbent will be represented by the MEA / NEA.

Position InformationPosition Information
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- City of Detroit unlimited refrigeration journeyman’s license or equivalent journeyman’s card through Union Local 636, and proof of six years of continuing job related experience dealing specifically with large heating/ventilation/air conditioning systems.
- In the absence of above credentials, individual may possess a State of Michigan mechanical contractor’s license.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of cooling towers, pumps, chilled water coils, centrifugal chillers, absorption chillers, heating systems and their distributions.
- Experience and working knowledge of DDC building controls.
- Preferably experience with Honeywell and Automated Logic building control systems.
- Certified in refrigerant recovery.
- Candidate must also possess a working knowledge of other trades including electrical and plumbing installations and have ability to perform repairs on these systems.
- Ability to interpret building schematics related to large building systems.
- Ability to repair equipment in a professional manner.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Valid vehicle operator’s license and a driving record acceptable to the university.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
Position Purpose
The successful candidate will become part of a skilled trade’s team responsible for University maintenance activities. This individual will be called upon to perform a variety of tasks associated with maintaining building HVAC, and mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems.
