The Controls Engineer will contribute to the success of the company by designing, coding, and testing control systems for pressure sensitive labelers and integrated labeling systems for automated production lines in the packaging industry. Our Oakland Manufacturing Facility supports critical industries, including Pharmaceutical, Food and Beverage manufacturing. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain control system designs, schematics, and BOMs for pressure sensitive labeling systems
- Code, test, and debug/troubleshoot PLC & HMI programs
- Provide technical support for FATs, on-site installation, and after-sales support (troubleshooting both in field and over the phone)
- Manage electrical / controls portions of all non-standard projects
- Work with panel shop technicians to ensure that assembly, wiring, installation, and operation of control panels and electrical systems conform to quality standards, applicable codes, and customer requirements
- Handle component selection and specification
- Provide support to sales for equipment selection, hardware pricing, and labor estimates for customized products
- Write validation and design specification documentation as required
- Travel up to 10% to customer sites

Base Salary Range: $-$/yr
Who we’re looking for?- BS in Engineering (Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred)
- 5+ years of Controls Engineering experience
- Strong PLC programming skills (Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Keyence, Panasonic, others)
- Proficient in RsLogix/Studio
5000, AutoCAD, MS Office, Factory Talk View - Experience with Vision Systems (e.g. Cognex) a plus
- Strong Mechanical Aptitude
- Experience controlling sensors, actuators, pneumatics, stepper/servo motors, VFD drives
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of NEC, UL, NEMA, CE, NFPA 79, PMMI, and relevant ISO/EN standard
