Overview
Join us as a Local Delivery Driver (CDL
B) with Airgas (Job R). This role is based in Oakland, NJ (Plant – Retail shop).
At Airgas, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. You will contribute to safe and efficient delivery of compressed and liquid gas cylinders, as well as hard goods, along designated routes.
Responsibilities- Operate a Class B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders and hard goods.
- Collect empty cylinders from customers and return them to a plant or branch location for refilling.
- Address customer inquiries, ensuring satisfaction.
- Conduct pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle checks, noting issues and ensuring safety compliance.
- Present a professional appearance and maintain the vehicle’s condition.
- Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases.
- Establish and maintain good customer relations and provide timely communication regarding changes or issues.
- Maintain load manifests and all required vehicle documents, ensuring they are properly completed and reconciled with truck counts and shipping documents.
- Ensure vehicle manifests, placards, cylinder labeling, and load nesting and strapping comply with Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and all government regulations.
- Work in the warehouse or on the dock as needed.
- Valid Class B Driver’s License.
- Valid Medical Examiner’s Card.
- Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications (or ability to acquire certifications as a condition of employment).
- Minimum 1 year of prior Class B professional driving experience within the last 5 years and a clean driving record (no more than two convictions; or no more than two at‑fault accidents in the last 3 years; or a combination of one conviction and one at‑fault accident).
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; may consider accredited driving school diploma with experience.
- Minimum age 21 years or older.
- Valid in Colorado; no federally issued Medicaid.
$30–$33 per hour.
