Overview
i9 Sports is the nation’s first and largest provider of youth sports leagues, camps and clinics. We offer programs for boys and girls ages 3‑14 in popular sports such as flag football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and t‑ball.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Youth Basketball Instructor & Official to join our team and play a pivotal role in the development of young basketball players. In this role you will teach fundamental basketball skills, officiate games, facilitate practices, and ensure a fun and educational experience.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction and Skill Development
- Teach young athletes fundamental basketball skills: dribbling, passing, shooting, and defending
- Implement age‑appropriate drills and exercises (practice plans provided by i9 Sports)
- Provide constructive feedback to improve performance
- Complete mandatory preseason training sessions (financially compensated)
- Game Officiating
- Serve as an official for youth basketball games, ensuring fair play and adherence to rules
- Maintain a professional and unbiased demeanor while officiating
- Address rule violations and conflicts with fairness and diplomacy
- Safety and Supervision
- Ensure the safety of all participants during practices and games
- Supervise and manage groups of young athletes, maintaining a positive and inclusive atmosphere
- Address safety concerns promptly and appropriately
- Communication
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents, participants, and staff
- Provide updates on program activities via Connecteam
- Address questions, concerns, and feedback from parents and participants professionally
- Previous experience coaching or playing basketball
- Knowledge of soccer rules and regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with children and parents
- Passion for youth sports and development of young athletes
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
- Availability to work each weekend of the season (Late Fall, Winter, Spring, etc.)
- Able to solve problems efficiently
- Able to motivate and manage others (e.g., coaches)
- Highly reliable and responsible
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Must have own vehicle/reliable transportation
- Must be able to pass background check
