The firm is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a public accounting professional looking to develop their technical skills, gain exposure to a diverse range of assurance and tax engagements, and work closely with experienced professionals in a collaborative environment.
The OpportunityThe successful candidate will work alongside managers and partners on a variety of engagements, including audits, review engagements, compilations, financial reporting, and tax assignments. This role offers strong mentorship and the opportunity to continue building a successful public accounting career.
Responsibilities- Prepare compilation, review engagement, and audit working papers
- Assist with audit planning, fieldwork, testing, and completion procedures
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules under ASPE
- Prepare corporate, personal, and other tax returns
- Complete working paper files, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Perform accounting analysis and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with year-end engagements and tax planning assignments
- Communicate with clients to obtain information, resolve questions, and provide updates
Support managers and partners with client engagements and special projects
- 1–3 years of public accounting experience preferred
- CPA designation in progress or successful completion of the CFE exam
- Experience with audits, reviews, compilations, and financial statement preparation
- Experience preparing corporate and personal tax returns
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and Canadian tax requirements
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset
- Gain broad exposure across assurance, accounting, and tax engagements
