Appleby College’s Summer Boarding Program welcomes participants from around the world with diverse languages and backgrounds. Participants attend Appleby College to enhance their English language skills and experience Canada.
Seasonal, Summer June – August 2026
Compensation: $1,000 Weekly
About the ProgramThe Summer Boarding Program mirrors the Appleby College student experience, giving participants a true sense of life as an Appleby student. Participants live in boarding, attend ESL classes, summer enrichment camp courses, or day programming, and take part in extracurricular activities and off‑campus excursions.
Program Planning- Organize, plan, and coordinate all aspects of the Appleby Summer Boarding Program.
- Work closely with the Assistant Director, Ancillary Boarding Programs to enhance program offerings.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and protocols.
- Develop and coordinate weekly themes and activities.
- Design and deliver training modules to support the professional development of boarding staff.
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive culture by leading, motivating, and developing strong teams.
- Create engaging activities that encourage participation by all students, including those who may be shy or hesitant.
- Support boarding staff with the facilitation of large‑group activities and off‑campus excursions.
- Monitor training effectiveness to ensure that both staff and participant needs are met.
- Oversee the use of facilities, equipment, and programs in accordance with Appleby College standards.
- Conduct staff performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Serve as a first‑aid responder and manage behavioural concerns as needed.
- Keep the Assistant Director, Ancillary Boarding Programs informed regarding incident reports, behaviour management, and staff performance matters.
- Have leadership experience in an overnight camp or residential/recreational setting.
- Possess strong skills and experience working with children and youth ages 10–17.
- Have experience teaching or leading a staff team in a camp or educational environment.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Are confident and comfortable leading games, group activities, and community‑building events.
- Room and board provided for the duration of the contract.

Pre‑Summer Training Days:
June 2, 9, 16 2026 – 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Move‑In, Training & Orientation:
June 22–24 2026
Program Session Dates &
Hours:
June 25 – August 23 2026
Weekly evenings and weekends, five days per week with two consecutive mid‑week days off per week (Monday / Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday)
Weekday On‑Duty Hours (Hours may vary):
- Morning Duty: 7:30 am to 9:30 am
- OFF: 9:30 am to 3:00 pm
- Afternoon On‑Duty Rotation: 3:30 to 11:00 pm (Break schedule varies)
Weekend On‑Duty hours vary based on weekly excursion schedule.
