Occasional Teacher (On‑call, Grades 7–12)
Appleby College currently offers a challenging opportunity for an occasional teacher. Our mission is to educate and enable our students to become leaders of character, major contributors to, and valued representatives of their local, national, and international communities.
To achieve this, we inspire our 800 students in grades 7 to 12 to pursue individual passions through an internationally recognisable and innovative academic, co‑curricular, experiential, and boarding life programme founded on the school’s eight Pillars of Strength:

The selected educator will participate in the full teaching complement of co‑curriculars, clubs, student advising and boarding life programmes. As a collaborative and engaging educator, you will:
- Possess a high level of understanding in your curriculum area.
- Transmit enthusiasm to students inside and outside the classroom through your passion.
- Create positive learning climates that inspire joy and a love for learning.
- Utilise digital resources as a venue to enhance pedagogy based on discovery and inquiry.
- Contribute, design, and build innovative programmes toward the shared vision of the school.
- Post‑secondary education at the university level with relevant specialisation in Physical and Health Education.
- Teacher education training (B.Ed., M.Ed.) or significant teaching experience in another setting (e.g. university, college, or specialised instruction).
- Coaching experience in specific sports.
- Ontario College of Teachers licence (or equivalent) is an asset.
- Prior teaching experience is an asset.
- Appropriate academic credentials illustrating a high level of knowledge and expertise in the teaching discipline.
- Technical aptitude.
- State‑of‑the‑art learning environment with motivated and engaged students.
- Class size of 16:1 on average.
- Located on a 60‑acre campus on the shores of Lake Ontario.
- A welcoming, inclusive environment.
As a condition of employment, a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
