Role Overview

To support our vision of empowered young women challenging and transforming the world, we are currently seeking a Middle School Learning Strategies Teacher to help support our Middle School students. This individual will be responsible for supporting both the academic and social/emotional needs of students and encouraging students to become self-advocates for their learning. The Learning Strategies Teacher will also work with classroom teachers with specific strategies to differentiate instruction and assessment.

This vacancy is due to a replacement position.

Education:

Bachelor of Education, Ontario Teacher Certification

Experience:

3-5+ years' experience supporting students with learning plans Special Education Additional Qualifications and experience

Classroom Teaching Experience (a definite asset) Experience in a non-profit setting (asset)

Experience in an Independent School (asset)

Working Conditions:

School/Office Environment, Mac, Google

Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience assisting classroom teachers in providing appropriate accommodations to meet the needs of the students
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of an IEP in consultation with the Middle School Principal, classroom teachers, parents, students, and community resources
  • Knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials designed with the neurodiversity of students in mind
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods
  • Participate in integrated team meetings (e.g. Student Success, Wellbeing) to ensure students are fully supported
  • Desire to seek opportunities that go above and beyond to contribute to a dynamic academic and co-curricular learning environment
