To support our vision of empowered young women challenging and transforming the world, we are currently seeking a Junior School French Teacher for Grades 4 and 5. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Junior School team and the Modern Languages Department and will be responsible for the development and delivery of creative and innovative inquiry based programming, while meeting the individual needs of all students in the classroom.

- 3+ years experience teaching French to primary/junior students
- Experience developing/implementing Project/Inquiry Based Learning

- Experience in an Independent School (asset)
- Bachelor of Education, Ontario Teacher Certification
- Working Conditions:

- Teach French classes within the Junior School.
- Provide inspirational learning experiences for students.
- Work collaboratively within the department and the Junior School faculty on curricular initiatives.
- Maintain consistent and professional communication with students, faculty and parents.
- Contribute to the co-curricular life of the School.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
SMLS' culture is highly collaborative and community-oriented. All staff are expected to participate fully in the life of the school, including attending school events which may occur on evenings or weekends from time to time (faculty participation in co-curriculars is essential). Employees are expected to undertake additional responsibilities as reasonably assigned, consistent with the scope and level of the role.
While a teacher's current teaching assignment is based on the School's present operational and educational needs, teaching assignments are subject to change from time to time. As the needs of the School, its students, enrolment, programming, and staffing requirements evolve, you may be assigned to teach different grades, subjects, courses, or programs for which you are qualified and competent to teach.
Any such changes will be made reasonably, and every effort will be made to provide advance notice and appropriate training where required.
Annual compensation is based on our Faculty Salary Grid, which factors in qualifications and up to 12 years of teaching experience:
Entry to 6 Years: $62,436 – $95,210 Over 6 Years: $90,962 – $123,876
