Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for an Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C) Engineer to join our engineering team in Oakville, Ontario. In this role, you will collaborate with a cross‑functional engineering team to deliver custom project designs that meet customer expectations for quality, schedule, and budget while mitigating project risks. This intermediate‑level position involves completing electrical and instrumentation designs for a wide range of water treatment technologies
. You will support projects from design through commissioning, contributing to instrumentation documentation, control system design, factory acceptance tests, and production support.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to execute project designs and meet customer requirements.
- Develop instrument and automatic valve lists, datasheets, and installation details.
- Assist with panel schematics, I/O lists, and instrumentation documentation.
- Read, interpret, and comment on engineering documents such as P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, process design guidelines, and engineering best practices.
- Interpret and follow contract and customer specifications.
- Perform calculations and select instrumentation for water treatment facilities, ensuring operator and equipment safety.
- Design complex low‑voltage industrial control systems in compliance with UL and CEC standards, including:
- Single line diagrams
- Load lists
- I/O lists
- Panel design and schematics
- Network architectures
- Select equipment suitable for Class 1 Div 2 hazardous environments when required.
- Support production facilities, project bids, and technical proposals.
- Participate in customer‑facing factory acceptance tests (FAT) and assist with commissioning activities.
- Manage scope, schedule, and budget considerations while proactively identifying project risks and opportunities.
- Ability to collaborate with and lead cross‑functional engineering teams and client discussions.
- Strong ability to develop and follow engineering standards and procedures.
- Willingness and ability to learn equipment and processes related to water treatment technologies.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in industrial control system design.
- Experience designing complex low‑voltage industrial control systems compliant with UL and CEC standards.
- Experience designing control panels and selecting equipment for Class 1 Div 2 areas.
- Excellent problem‑solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Valid passport and driver’s license.
Preferred
- Understanding of hydraulics and fluid mechanics fundamentals.
- Basic knowledge of water chemistry.
- Experience with PLC, HMI, and SCADA design and programming.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems and low‑voltage power distribution system design.
- Strong focus on customer relationships and collaboration with internal teams.
- Occasional travel (approximately 15%) for client meetings, customer site visits, and visits to other company offices.
110K-115K. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate’s level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.
