Our Infrastructure and Capital Projects practice is comprised of over 600 sector experts and specialized consultants across the globe.

Principal CSA Engineer

The Principal CSA Engineer is responsible for overseeing all civil, structural, and architectural (CSA) engineering activities for the project, ensuring technical integrity, code compliance, and effective integration with other project disciplines. This role serves as the senior technical authority for CSA engineering within the project environment. The incumbent provides strategic direction, establishes engineering standards, and ensures consistent, high‑quality execution of CSA deliverables while proactively managing technical risk and supporting overall project objectives.

While this role is tied administratively to our Oakville, ON office, the position itself will be based on‑site at the project location in the southwestern area of the Athabasca Basin, in Northern Saskatchewan on a rotating basis.

How You Will Contribute
  • Develop and oversee CSA engineering execution plans, ensuring alignment with overall project goals.
  • Provide principal‑level technical leadership and governance for all civil, structural, and architectural engineering activities.
  • Plan and direct CSA engineering personnel deployment, ensuring adequate and appropriate resources to meet project demands.
  • Lead technical coordination across CSA disciplines to ensure consistency, efficiency, and constructability.
  • Ensure timely preparation, review, and approval of CSA engineering deliverables, including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Oversee the development of technical documentation, ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate CSA engineering activities to maintain scope, budget, and schedule adherence.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues, design deviations, and critical engineering decisions.
  • Collaborate with procurement and construction teams to address technical challenges and optimize execution strategies.
  • Support constructability reviews, value engineering initiatives, and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Monitor fabrication and construction phases to ensure alignment with approved CSA design requirements.
  • Implement and enforce quality assurance and technical review processes across all CSA engineering activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is considered an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (PE/P.Eng.) registration or eligibility is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in civil, structural, and architectural engineering roles on large‑scale EPC or capital projects.
  • Demonstrated experience functioning as a senior or principal engineer with accountability for technical authority and governance.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software, project execution tools, and industry‑standard methodologies.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and technical decision‑making abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
