A Snapshot of Your Day

At Siemens Energy, the electrical lead commissioning engineer plays a senior role in overseeing the commissioning and testing of complex electrical projects, making sure all work aligns with technical specifications and safety standards. This position involves guiding a technical team, managing project delivery, serving as the primary client contact, and performing hands-on tasks such as testing and fault diagnosis. Additionally, the role includes close collaboration on engineering, design, and acceptance testing for large-scale systems—like power plants, substations, and energy storage facilities—as well as equipment such as transformers, breakers, and switchgears.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Leadership and project management:
  • Lead a team in the installation and testing of equipment, manage technical project execution, and act as the primary point of contact for clients and third parties.

  • Testing and Commissioning:
  • Conduct and oversee comprehensive testing of high-voltage transformers, breakers, switch-gears, protection schemes, relay systems, and other electrical components to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Engineering and documentation:
  • Perform basic and detailed engineering, ensure all technical project documentation is complete, and collaborate on technical concepts.

  • Problem-solving and support:
  • Provide technical support, identify and resolve electrical issues, and offer on-site and remote support to customers, including training on equipment use and maintenance.

  • Compliance and quality assurance:
  • Ensure all projects comply with regulatory requirements, project specifications, and internal standards. Manage punch list closure and coordinate with class approvals.

    What You Bring

  • Possesses 15 years of OEM experience in testing a variety of high voltage substation equipment, including transformers, breakers, and switchgears; skilled in report preparation, team leadership, and serving as the main technical point of contact for customers.
  • Currently holds or is actively pursuing PMP certification.
  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Strong critical analysis skills with high attention to detail
  • Flexible and highly motivated with a strong work ethic and professional demeanor
  • Strong written, and verbal English communication skills. French is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to sites as required.
  • No visa sponsorship is being offered for this position. Holds valid work permit, permanent residence or citizen status in Canada.
