Maple Armor Group is at the forefront of innovation in the fire alarm industry. We provide cutting‑edge fire safety solutions that save lives and protect properties. We are currently seeking a skilled Fire alarm Designer with a background in fire alarm systems to join our dynamic team in the GTA.
Position Overview:
The Designer will be responsible for designing fire alarm systems that align with customer needs, local regulations, and industry standards. They will also prepare detailed cost estimates to support project planning and execution.
Responsibilities:
System Design:
Develop detailed fire alarm system designs based on client specifications, regulatory requirements, and best practices. Prepare fire alarm shop drawing package including schematics, detailed floor plans with field device layouts, bill of materials, calculations, etc.
Cost Estimation:
Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for materials, labor, and overall project execution.
Client
Collaboration:
Work closely with sales, project managers, technicians, clients, engineers, and contractors to ensure alignment with project goals and expectations.
Regulatory Compliance:
Maintain awareness of local and national codes, ensuring that designs meet all relevant legal and safety standards.
Project Support:
Provide ongoing support during project execution, including revisions, clarifications, and technical assistance.
Technology Integration:
Stay up to date with the latest technologies and products in the fire alarm industry, incorporating them into designs as needed.
Team
Collaboration:
Collaborate with sales, engineering, and other internal teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
Qualifications:
Post‑secondary education in Engineering, Fire Protection, or related field.
2+ years of experience in designing and estimating fire alarm or electronic systems.
Proficient in CAD software and other relevant design tools.
Strong understanding of fire and life safety industry codes, standards, and regulations.
Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Valid and clean “G” driver's license may be required for occasional site visits.
Ability to finish multiple projects on time.
Proficient with PC‑based applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Able to read and understand engineered drawings, specifications, programs, schematics, installation manuals, and service manuals.
CFAA certification would be an asset.
