Position Overview
As a Senior Estimator, you will take ownership of preparing, reviewing, and presenting discipline‑specific estimates for major project proposals. You will manage the estimating process by providing strategic guidance, mentoring team members, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of deliverables. Your responsibilities will include developing conceptual and detailed estimates, conducting cost analyses, and maintaining historical cost databases. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental procedures and best practices.
In this leadership role, you will delegate tasks, oversee quality control, and collaborate closely with project teams and stakeholders to support informed decision‑making throughout the pre‑construction phase.
This position is based in our office in Oakville.
Responsibilities- Strategically review project plans and specifications to develop construction methodologies that inform the estimate
- Evaluate tender and contract documents in collaboration with legal and commercial teams
- Coordinate closely with planning, scheduling, procurement, and proposal teams to ensure alignment and accuracy
- Present estimates confidently to senior management and external clients, supporting negotiations and decision‑making
- Foster strong, professional relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Champion continuous improvement within the estimating team, sharing best practices and mentoring junior estimators
- Ensure estimates are delivered on time, with precision and strategic insight
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in estimation with relevant industry experience
- 10+ years of relevant experience in estimating for major industrial projects and experience leading a team
- Experience in nuclear industry is a great asset.
- Excellent knowledge of the Canadian construction market
- Excellent communication English skills
- Effective presentation and negotiation skills
- Advanced computer skills, knowledge of MS Office, and Bluebeam software is an asset
- Must be willing to travel as required to visit project sites or meet with clients for estimate specific needs
- Well organized, flexible, team player, detail oriented and multi‑tasked.
- Prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines while constantly changing tasks and demands
- Regular, reliable attendance
- Work productively and meet deadlines timely
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

Base Compensation: $110,000/yr - $155,000/yr. (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
