Manager, Cost & Financial Analysis

Overview  A long-established Canadian industrial manufacturer with over a century of operating history is seeking a Manager, Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis to take ownership of product costing and financial analysis within a stable, team-oriented finance function.

Location:

Burlington/Hamilton border — 5 days in office. Compensation: base salary $120,000 – $130,000 with a high discretionary bonus. Industry: Manufacturing.

The Role  Role:
Manager, Cost Accounting
The Manager, Cost Accounting will centralize costing oversight in a large-scale manufacturing environment. Costing responsibilities are currently distributed across leadership and operational teams. This hire will bring structure, accountability, and consistency to a core financial function.
Responsibilities   Conduct monthly product costing reviews
Oversee escalation and de-escalation assessments
Analyze order-level charges and credits
Maintain the authorization for expenditure/shop order system
Track and analyze cost variances
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
Review reconciliations and costing-related work papers
Support stakeholder-mandated audits, including pension-related audits
Review weekly payments and sales invoicing processes
Provide financial support related to ownership asset tracking when required
Participate in ad hoc financial analysis and special projects
Collaborates closely with the Controller and CFO and interacts cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and supply chain.
Qualifications   CPA designation
Minimum 2+ years in a manufacturing environment
Strong grounding in cost accounting principles
Advanced Excel skills
Comfortable working within legacy ERP systems (AS/400 environment)
Strong internal communicator
Detail-oriented and process-driven
Comfortable in a stable, long-term role without a rapid promotion track
Able to operate independently without direct reports
