Job Description Working within the Inpatient Paediatric Unit, the Child and Youth Worker (CYW) will collaborate on treatment plans and provide support to hospitalized patients and families.
Specifically, the initial assignment will see the CYW work closely with hospitalized youth with eating disorders and their families to help meet food intake goals, provide support and guidance during meal times and contribute to treatment plans for care beyond medical stabilization. The CYW may also work with youth to help support patients and families as they work towards developing and meeting mental health goals.
The CYW will work closely with Paediatricians, Child Psychiatrists, Social Workers and Nurses to ensure that progress or delay in treatment is articulated to ensure a seamless transition between teams.
Qualifications
CYW certificate and diploma or degree from a recognized community college or university.3-5 years of child and adolescent experience preferably in the hospital settingMust have knowledge of children's psycho-social developmentKnowledge about or interest in paediatric eating disorders would be an assetAble to work independently and effectively within a teamMust have competency in assessing risk issues and being able to address concerns within the communityExperience in working with high conflict families and the skill set in deescalating conflictUnderstanding of the school system and support within the Halton communityMust have computer skills (Word Processing)Satisfactory employment and good attendance recordAdditional Information
