We are hiring a GIS Developer for a contract position through December 2026 at our Oakville, ON office. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and comfortable with a hybrid work model.
Responsibilities Application Development & Maintenance- Design, develop, and maintain new and existing GIS applications and services.
- Develop front‑end display systems for visualizing data served by back‑end infrastructure.
- Create custom workflow tools and add‑ons to enhance user productivity.
- Ensure software is robust, performs optimally, and meets functional requirements, including unit and system testing before production handover.
- Design, set up, and maintain processes for supporting various Market Place datasets.
- Assist in the development and management of enterprise geospatial data.
- Plan and update GIS applications and servers to ensure reliability.
- Administer GIS systems, coordinating updates and maintenance with system administrators.
- Integrate and design functionality to automate processes where appropriate.
- Integrate GIS functionality into custom and web‑based solutions.
- Liaise with partners and vendors for content and system integration.
- Work with Operations to ensure systems operate without impacting existing products.
- Participate in quality reviews and contribute to improved practices.
- Assist with user‑requirements analysis, design documentation, and test plan development.
- Provide regular project updates and support project‑management processes.
- University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional GIS development experience.
- Expertise with ESRI ArcGIS products, including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, and ArcSDE on PostgreSQL 10 or newer.
- Strong knowledge of relational database management, big‑data concepts, and data‑structure optimization.
- Experience in GIS‑based solutions and geospatial data standards.
- Knowledge of data modeling, system design, and geodatabase administration.
- Experience with advanced geoprocessing techniques.
- Deployment and testing of custom web applications integrated with Esri products.
- Understanding of web‑application security best practices.
- Experience with service‑oriented architecture.
- Experience with AWS or GCP.
- Core programming languages: .NET (C#, ASP.NET MVC/Core), Python (ArcGIS API for Python, Arc Py), and ArcGIS JavaScript API.
- Experience with FME Workbench and Server.
- Broad technical knowledge of GIS beyond development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with strong attention to detail.
- Organizational and documentation skills.
- Desire to contribute to process improvements.
