Geotab is seeking a Data Scientist who will assist in the design and construction of Geotab's data mining and model-building processes from large amounts of raw data. This role collaborates with internal technical teams to analyze trends and support data-driven decision-making for customer-facing products. Whatyou'll do
As a Data Scientist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and constructing Geotab’s data modeling processes
- Creating algorithms and predictive models to solve complex business problems
- Generating queries from Geotab’s Big Data Infrastructure (e.g., Data Warehousing databases such as Google Big Query)
- Developing machine learning models, testing product performance, and maintaining reports and dashboards
- Working with internal technical teams to gather requirements and ensure data-driven products meet expectations

You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, high accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
How you'll make an impact- Design and construct Geotab’s data modeling processes
- Create algorithms and predictive models to extract information for solving complex business problems
- Generate queries from Geotab’s Big Data Infrastructure (e.g., Google Big Query)
- Use machine learning packages (e.g., Scikit-learn and Tensor Flow) to develop ML models and features
- Test the performance of data-driven products and recommend improvements to Geotab’s product suite
- Collaborate with internal technical teams to gather requirements
- Design, develop, and maintain ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions
- Support a platform providing ad-hoc and automated access to large datasets
- 1-5 years experience as a Data Scientist or a similar role
- Post-secondary degree/diploma with specialization in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong programming knowledge (e.g., Python, SQL, C++) and experience with Big Data tools (e.g., Google Big Query)
- Experience with machine learning techniques (Scikit-learn, Tensor Flow) and BI tools (Tableau)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve problems and make well-judged decisions
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent technical competence using software programs, including Google Suite for business
