Collins Aerospace is looking to hire Machine Shop Technician - Mill Turn; reporting to the Weekend Night Shift Machine Shop Supervisor, as the Machine Shop Technician - Mill Turn, you will produce aircraft parts to drawing while operating machines in the cell.

Work Location:
Oakville Facility, Ontario – Canada

Shift Hours – Weekend Night – Friday - Sunday (6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform own manual set-ups by positioning and aligning tooling per set-up instructions using CNC programming language (G codes).

  • Maintain tolerances by observing operation and making necessary machine offset adjustments, cutter changes and self-inspection (OSV-Operator Self Verification).

  • Document actions in support of quality logs, communicate all discrepancies in machining to supervision and create Product Defect Sheets (PDS) as required.

  • Perform work from set-up sheets, manufacturing sheets and drawings.

  • Support and promote continuous improvement, 5S activities and Standard Work Development in the cell.

  • Multi-task and operate other machines within the cell.

  • Can fully achieve the responsibilities of the position within a training time of 6-8 weeks.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires High school diploma, with a minimum 3 to 5 years of Millturn and/or Mill/Lathe machining experience.

  • Experience utilizing measuring equipment in support of quality requirements

  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints.

  • Experience with Renishaw probe and probe cycles.

  • The selected candidate has to be eligible to work in Canada; successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certificate of Qualification (C of Q)

  • Verbal and written communication skills (English)

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner

  • Willingness to train, multi-task and operate other machines in the cell

  • Experience with TMAC adaptive control
